Personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) attached to the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone B, Kaduna, and deployed to Kebbi State, on February 7, 2026, allegedly shot a car dealer, Tukur Alhaji Salihu, aged 45.
According to Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON), Kebbi State Chapter the incident occurred between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. along the Nagari College–Illela-Yari axis within the Birnin Kebbi metropolis.
Salihu was rushed to a hospital after the shooting but later died from his injuries at about midnight. He was subsequently buried in his hometown, Argungu.
Condemning the incident, the Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON), Kebbi State Chapter, has demanded an immediate investigation and the prosecution of those responsible.
“This incident is a stark reminder of the growing concerns over extra-judicial killings and human rights abuses in our state and country,” the association said in a statement signed by its Secretary, Shehu Yusuf Bunza.
AMDON described the shooting as a “deliberate and unwarranted use of force”, adding that the incident has created fear and panic among its members and the wider Kebbi State community.
The association further expressed concern that the shooting occurred in broad daylight, alleging that the operatives “acted with impunity, disregarding the sanctity of human life.”
The deceased is survived by two wives, seven children and his parents.
