The Kebbi State Youth Wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned in strong terms the reported attack by suspected Lakurawa terrorists on Dadin Kowa village in Maiyama Local Government Area, describing the incident as a tragic assault on humanity and peace.
In a press statement issued by the Kebbi State ADC Youth Leader, Muhammad Al-amin, the group expressed deep shock and sorrow over the killing of innocent worshippers during the attack. Several others were reportedly injured in the incident.
The statement noted that the tragedy in Maiyama comes shortly after a similar attack in Arewa Local Government Area, where more than 30 lives were lost under related circumstances.
According to the ADC Youth Wing, the repeated loss of innocent citizens across Kebbi State is “unacceptable and deeply disturbing.”
“This heartbreaking incident is not just an attack on a community; it is an attack on humanity, on peace, and on the sanctity of life,” the statement read,
The youth wing raised serious concerns about the effectiveness of current security measures in the state, stressing that the primary responsibility of government is the protection of lives and property.
It called on both the Kebbi State Government and the Federal Government to urgently reassess their security priorities.
The group further argued that greater attention, resources, and coordination should be directed toward strengthening security architecture, intelligence gathering, and community protection, rather than focusing heavily on political activities and re-election preparations.
It also called for increased transparency and accountability in the use of funds reportedly allocated for security interventions, stating that citizens deserve measurable outcomes and visible improvements.
The ADC Youth Wing urged immediate, coordinated, and decisive action to dismantle criminal networks operating within communities across Kebbi State and to restore public confidence in the security system.
The statement concluded with prayers for the victims, asking Almighty Allah to forgive the departed souls, grant speedy recovery to the injured, and give strength to bereaved families during the difficult period.
