The Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) 8 Division Chapter, has empowered its members with cash support, grinding machine and other instrument to improve their lives and strengthen their families.
Presenting the empowerment support to the beneficiaries, the NAOWA Chairperson 8 Division Chapter, Mrs Chinelo Iweora Koughna, said the initiative was part of activity marking the 2026 international women’s day with the theme: ” Give To Gain”.
She said the celebration recognized trends, resilience, achievement, services, and contributions of women in the community and societies.
According to her, the theme of this year’s celebration “Give To Gain”, was aligned with NAOWA core values that support women vulnerability, empowerment, mentorship and sustained ability.
“This was organized to empower women, especially soldiers’ wives and young girls, with skills and knowledge that would improve their lives and strengthen their families.
“The event served as a powerful reminder that when women are empowered with skills, knowledge, and opportunities, they can transform their families, communities, and the nation.

She reminded the women that empowerment is the key to building confident families and stronger communities in the country.
Mrs Koughna encouraged women to see themselves not only as supportive partners to soldiers, but also as entrepreneurs, leaders, and agents of change.
She further explained that through initiatives like these, NAOWA would continues to champion the vision of a brighter and more independent future women.
The NAOWA Chairperson also expressed appreciation to the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General
Bemgha Koughna, for his support and other initiatives aimed at empowering women in the barracks.
The event also featured motivational talks from successful female entrepreneur Ms Raja’atu Mohammed Ibrahim, who shared her journeys and encouraged women to remain resilient despite challenges.
Also, the Chairman Nigerian Bar Association Sokoto Branch, Barrister Rashidat Mohammed, presented a paper on life after retirement.
Barrister Rashidat Mohammed, encourage soldiers wives to support their husband to plan their life and inculcate the habits of savings.
She congratulated women and commended their courage, resilience and commitment to nation building.
The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the NAOWA Chairperson Mrs Chinelo Iweora Koughna for the support and would use it judiciously to support their husband and family while they served the nation.
