In celebration of National Youth Day, the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Network, Kebbi State Hub, has launched its innovative Home Garden/Sack Farming Campaign at Government Girls Day Secondary School, Tudun Wada, Birnin Kebbi.
This was contained in a statement signed by Yusuf Muhammad Ladan, Secretary General, YALI Network Kebbi State Hub.
According to the statement, students received hands-on training on planting sweet potatoes using sacks a method that enables crops to mature within three months as part of the campaign.
The initiative aims to introduce modern agricultural practices to students while fostering a passion for farming and self-reliance beyond secondary school.
YALI representatives urged school authorities to strengthen agricultural clubs and encourage youth participation in farming activities. They emphasized that the Home Garden Initiative promotes climate-smart agriculture, offering practical solutions to the growing challenges posed by climate change.
The campaign is part of YALI’s broader commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development.
