Tension gripped Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State on Sunday following a violent clash between local youths and miners at Tashar Kattai Area of Yauri local government area of Kebbi State.
According to an eye witness, the altercation reportedly began with a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation.
Details remain unclear, but eyewitnesses said the conflict quickly turned violent, leading to multiple injuries.
The Chairman of Yauri Local Government, Alhaji Abubakar Shuaibu Kauran Yauri, confirmed the incident, stating that one person died instantly while several others were injured
In response, a curfew from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM has been imposed for three days following a security meeting at the Emir’s palace.
The chairman called on residents to remain peaceful, obey the curfew, and support the efforts of the Kauran Gwandu-led administration to maintain law and order in the area.
