The importance of encouraging younger generations to seek Islamic knowledge has been emphasized as a means of preserving and promoting the rich legacy of the Sokoto Caliphate.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 12th Sheikh Usmanu Bin Fodiyo Week, Malam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki (Sadaukin Sakkwato), made this call during the closing ceremony of a poetry and essay writing competition organized by the Sokoto State Chapter of the National Council for Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO).
Sadaukin Sakkwato underscored the need to incorporate the teachings and writings of Sokoto Jihad leaders into school curricula to educate younger generations on the contributions, sacrifices, and intellectual heritage of these historical Islamic figures.
He further noted that the initiative aligns with the Sultanate Council’s commitment to promoting the teachings and legacy of the Sokoto Caliphate Jihad leaders.
The event, held at Government Girls College, Sokoto, drew participants from various secondary schools across the state.
