Kebbi Gov’t Trains Auditors and Directors of Finance on Professional Working Relationship

The Kebbi State Government has asked Auditors and Directors of Finance of various ministries, departments, and agencies to strengthen professional working relationships between the two offices. To achieve these, A training program with the theme “Building Trust and Collaboration for Financial Integrity has begun with the aim of enhancing their capacity to manage public funds effectively.

The Training Program was declared open in Birnin Kebbi by State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida who represented Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu. He emphasized the importance of fiscal discipline and probity in the management of public funds.

He urged participants to remain vigilant and proactive in preventing financial improprieties, noting that their efforts are crucial in protecting public resources from fraud.

The Deputy Governor commended the Offices of the Kebbi State Auditor General and Accountant General for putting together the training program, describing it as a testament to the harmonious working relationship between the two critical offices.

He expressed confidence that the outcome of the training would be a significant step forward in promoting financial integrity, accountability, and probity in Kebbi State.

Senator Umar Tafida, affirmed state government’s zero-tolerance stance against all forms of financial impropriety. He assured auditors and directors of finance of the government’s unwavering support in their efforts to protect public resources.

In his remarks, the State Head of Service, Alhaji Malami Muhammad Shekare, urged directors of finance and auditors posted to particular ministries, departments, or agencies to work in synergy with the Permanent Secretaries of their respective MDAs. He wished the participants a successful training session.

Earlier in his address, the State Auditor General, Alhaji Bello Usman Gwadangaji thanked the State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu and office of the Head of Service for approving the training program.

He emphasized the importance of continuous learning in the public service, noting that the training would provide a vital opportunity for participants to learn new skills, to stay current with developing standards.

According to him, the training will focus on strengthening internal control systems, budgeting, and requirements for financial statement reporting. The Auditor General encouraged participants to actively participate, ask relevant questions, and engage with facilitators to get the most out of the training.

He added that, the training program which is part of the state’s efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance is expected to enhance the capacity of auditors and directors of finance to manage public funds effectively and efficiently.
