The Kebbi State Government, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, has organised a special prayer session for the sustenance of peace, unity and progress in the state.
In his welcome address, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, expressed gratitude to Almighty God for granting Gov. Nasir Idris the wisdom and foresight to initiate the programme.
He also appreciated all the guests for honouring the invitation.

The Chairman of the Prayer Committee, Alhaji Zaiyanu Sani, described the event as significant, noting that Gov. Idris brought together both Muslim and Christian leaders to jointly pray for peace, especially in view of the security challenges facing the nation.
He commended those who contributed financially to ensure that similar prayer sessions continue across all the 21 Local Government Areas of Kebbi State.
According to him, selected Islamic clerics have been holding fasting and Qur’anic recitations for the success of Gov. Idris, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other leaders, as well as for lasting peace in the state.
Alhaji Zaiyanu Sani specifically thanked Alhaji Samaila Mabo for his consistent financial support since the commencement of the prayers.
He described Gov. Idris as a leader deserving of prayers for his developmental strides and fulfilment of campaign promises.
He further observed that despite the current challenges, the security situation in Kebbi State is gradually improving through sustained prayers and the Governor’s proactive leadership.
Special prayers for peace, progress, unity, and stability were offered by prominent religious leaders, including Malam Usman Adamu Jega, Malam Abubakar Ribah (Chairman, Kebbi State Council of Imams), Sheikh Umar Malisa (Chairman, Kebbi State Preaching Board), Rev. Nuhu Mamman Gudal and Rev. Joshua from Zuru representing CAN, Sheikh Abdulrahman Isa Jega (Chairman, Kebbi State Council of Ulama), Sheikh Abbas Jega, and Sheikh Aliyu Ladda Bunza.
They prayed for lasting peace, an end to killings, hostilities, and kidnappings across the state and Nigeria, and for unity among citizens regardless of religious or ethnic differences.
They also sought divine protection for the state and the nation and prayed against anyone planning to cause chaos within Nigeria.
In his remarks, Gov. Nasir Idris thanked the participants, especially religious leaders from both faiths, for their presence and commitment.
He noted that no state in Nigeria is completely free from security challenges and cautioned against politicising such sensitive issues.
“I have always said that those politicising security should stop. Negative comments against our security forces are demoralising their efforts and performance,” the Governor warned.
Gov. Idris commended the joint participation of Muslims and Christians in the prayer session as a reflection of peace and tolerance in Kebbi State.
He emphasised that prayers remain the strongest weapon for overcoming challenges, assuring that Kebbi will continue to record peace and progress through the collective prayers of its people.
“All the successes we are achieving are due to your fervent prayers.
” By the grace of God, Kebbi State will continue to remain largely peaceful,” Gov. Idris reaffirmed.
In his closing remarks, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Arch. Sani Aliyu, appreciated all those who contributed to the success of the programme.
