The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has directed Muslims across the Country to look for the new Moon of Jumada Assaniya 1447 AH on Thursday, 20th November 2025.
A statement signed by Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu, Wazirin Sokoto and Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, indicates that the date corresponds to the 29th Day of Jumadal Ula 1447 AH, making it the official Day for the crescent sighting.
It calls on the Muslim Ummah to begin the search for the new Moon Thursday evening.
The statement further urges Muslims who sight the crescent to report to the nearest District or Village Head, who will in turn communicate the information to the Sultan.
