The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Suleman Mamuda, for allegedly killing his wife, Umaima Maidawa, aged 25, in Bayawa Village, Augie Local Government Area of the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, and made available to newsmen on Thursday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, 13th January, 2026, at about 6:30 a.m. According to police reports, the suspect allegedly struck his wife with the wooden handle of a hoe during a domestic altercation, resulting in her death.
After committing the act, the suspect reportedly fled the area but was later traced and arrested following credible information provided by members of the community and a swift police investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Umar Mohammed Hadejia, psc, MNIM, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
The Command has also urged members of the public to promptly report incidents and continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in order to maintain peace and security across the state.
