The Kebbi State Police Command has arraigned an armed robbery suspect, Shafiu Atiku of Arewa Local Government Area, before a court in Birnin Kebbi for prosecution over an alleged motorcycle robbery.
This is contained in a statement signed By SP Bashir Usman, Police Public Relations Officer and made available to Newsmen on Thursday.
The suspect was arrested on January 15, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., following an incident along the Bypass Road in Birnin Kebbi. He is alleged to have attacked a commercial motorcyclist, identified as Jafar, with a machete and knife and forcefully dispossessed him of his Bajaj motorcycle while the victim was lawfully carrying out his business.
The police have advised commercial motorcyclists, especially those operating at night, to exercise caution and avoid conveying suspicious passengers to isolated areas, noting that such encounters have previously led to loss of lives and property.
The Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mohammed Hadeija, psc, MNIM, reassured members of the public of its continued commitment to public safety and urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities.
