Suspected gunmen on Sunday night attacked a police station in Ilo town, Bagudo Local Government Area, freeing suspected bandits in custody and setting the facility ablaze.
Residents said several gunshots were heard during the attack as the assailants stormed the police station, overpowering security personnel before releasing detainees believed to be suspected bandits.
The attackers reportedly set the police station on fire after freeing the suspects, causing significant damage to the building.
it could be recall that last week, gunmen also attacked the police station in Bakin Ruwa border, where two police officers were reportedly shot dead during the assault.
Residents of the area have expressed growing concern over the recurring attacks, calling on security agencies to strengthen surveillance and security measures to prevent further incidents.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the latest attack as of the time of filing this report.
