The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area following a tragic security incident that claimed several lives in the community of Angwan Rukuba on Sunday.
In the statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap and made available to Newsmen on Sunday, the governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, strongly condemned the attack, describing it as “barbaric and unprovoked.”
According to the statement, the curfew was announced after an attack in Gari Ya Waye community left multiple people dead and others injured.
The state government said the restriction will take immediate effect from 12:00 midnight on March 29 and will remain in place until April 1, 2026.
He assured residents that security agencies are already working to track down those responsible and bring them to justice.
The government urged residents to remain calm, stay vigilant, and cooperate with security agencies by providing any information that could assist ongoing investigations.
Authorities say the curfew is part of urgent measures to restore peace and prevent further violence in the area.
