Kebbi Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Killing Brother, Wife in Jega

Residents of Asarara Village in Kimba District of Jega Local Government Area, Kebbi State, were thrown into shock after a couple was brutally murdered in the early hours of Friday, prompting the arrest of a close family member.

The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the arrest of 25-year-old Idrisu Musa in connection with the killing of his elder brother, Muhammed Haruna, and Haruna’s wife, Habiba Muhammed.

According to the command public relations officer, Bashir Usman in a statement, the couple was attacked with a cutlass while asleep in their home at about 5:15 a.m. on May 9, 2026.

The victims reportedly sustained severe injuries and were later confirmed dead.

The police command disclosed that substantial and implicating evidence linking the suspect to the crime has been recovered.

The command sources also revealed that Idrisu Musa had allegedly threatened and intimidated the couple with a cutlass on several occasions before the tragic incident.

The gruesome killing has sparked fear and outrage within the community, where neighbours described the incident as both shocking and heartbreaking.

In response to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, CP Umar M. Hadejia, ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation.

The Police Command assured members of the public that justice would be pursued diligently and urged residents to remain calm while investigations continue.
