Sokoto: UDUTH Honours Outstanding Staff, Celebrates Retirees

Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) has honoured outstanding members of its staff for exceptional performance in the year 2025, while also recognising the invaluable contributions of its retired staff.

The colourful ceremony, held at the hospital’s main auditorium, brought together management, staff, and invited guests to celebrate dedication, professionalism, and years of meritorious service.

In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Professor Anas Ahmed Sabir, said the awards were instituted to encourage excellence, boost morale, and promote healthy competition among staff across all departments and units.

He noted that the awardees were carefully selected based on their commitment to duty, integrity, and impact on patient care and service delivery.

He commended the recipients for distinguishing themselves in their respective roles, describing them as shining examples of the hospitals core values.

“Your excellence has been recognized, your impact acknowledged and your efforts celebrated, continue to shine, continue to inspire and continue to make us pride.

” Let us continue to renewed commitment, a reaffirmation of or collective resolve to uphold excellence, strengthen service delivery and achieve greater heights,” he added.

According to him, their hard work and dedication have significantly contributed to the growth and reputation of the institution.

“Today, we gather not merely to represent awards, but to celebrate a culture of excellence, sacrifice, dedication and service to humanity.

“This ceremony reminds us that beyond our structure, systems and facilities, it is our people the committed men and women who serve daily with integrity and compassion who truly define our success,” CMD said.

He charged other staff to take the awards as a motivation to give their best in the discharge of their duties to be celebrated next time.

The event also featured a special segment in honour of retired staff, who were celebrated for their years of selfless service to the hospital and humanity.

Professor Sabir described them as pillars upon which the institution was built, noting that their legacies would continue to inspire future generations of healthcare workers.

Some of the retirees, while speaking at the event, appreciated the gesture and urged current staff to remain committed, disciplined, and passionate in the discharge of their duties.

Also speaking at the event, the Director Administration of the hospital, said the celebration represents an important pillars of the hospital.

He said the events provide an avenue to celebrate staff of excellence who distinguished themselves in their respective departments.

” We recognized those who have excelled in their duties and we also pay tribute to those who have devoted the greater part of their lives in service to this great institution,” he said.

The Director appreciated the visionary leadership of the CMD, Professor Anas Ahmed Sabir, whose foresight and determination brought the initiative in to existence and ensure sustainability.

In his vote of thanks, the secretary of the Committee, Atiku Abubakar Yabo, expressed appreciation to the Chief Medical Director for his unwavering support to commitment towards actualizing the exercise.

He further commended the awardees and retirees for their resilience, service to humanity that uphold the hospital services globally.

One of the recipients who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, Dr Aisha Aminu Lawal, expressed gratitude to the management for recognising their efforts, pledging to sustain and improve their performance.
