The Sokoto State Government has approved the constitution of the 2026 Hajj Delegation, appointing Minister for Labour and Employment, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, as the Amirul Hajj.
This was disclosed in a statement issued and signed by the Director General, Media and Publicity to the state governor, Abubakar Bawa, on April 24, 2026.
According to the statement, Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto approved the delegation as part of efforts to ensure a smooth and successful Hajj operation for pilgrims from the state.
The delegation includes prominent government officials, religious leaders, and stakeholders.
Among them are Hon. Sodangi Shua’ibu Achida, Justice Amina Modi Yabo, Hon. Aminu Gidado, Hon. Nasiru Aliyu D/Tsoho, and Hon. Muhammad Bello Sifawa, who serves as the Secretary to the State Government.
Others are Hon. Aminu H. Dikko, Alhaji Rilwanu Bello (Magajin Rafin Sokoto), Sheikh Yahaya Na-Malam Boyi, Professor Malami Muhammad Maishanu, Hon. Maryam Sulaiman, and Alhaji Bello Bulaki. Alhaji Hussaini N. Umar was named Secretary of the delegation.
The government outlined the terms of reference for the committee, which include planning, coordinating, supervising, and ensuring the successful conduct of the 2026 Hajj operations in both Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
The delegation is also tasked with overseeing the activities of sub-committees in both countries, ensuring proper arrangements for accommodation, feeding, and the general welfare of pilgrims, as well as carrying out any additional duties necessary for a successful pilgrimage.
The move underscores the state government’s commitment to improving the welfare of pilgrims and ensuring a hitch-free Hajj exercise in 2026.
